In layman’s terms this experiment may be in the way of something far more important that ‘ALL’ the physicists and experienced staff at CERN should be looking into right now.
What is the one big thing that has been overlooked with space time curvature?
The curvature is in time also. That means that for Mercury to advance through the perihelion it needs to either follow a shorter path through the gravity well caused by the sun. Or it must spend more time in the orbit due to the curvature of space allowing the sun to advance the orbit.
That is highly significant because if time is affected then the local gravity of Mercury would be marginally less while in the gravity well. This has significance to the alignment in 2012 because the whole solar system may be going to go through a similar gravity well brought about by the Milky Way being in a super cluster of galaxies. It would be a brief window of reduced gravity but with no reduction in propulsion. It means even the most despotic tin pot country in the world could make a grab for the moon if it was prepared to organize for it.
The real goal would be Mars with usable soil and 0.8% atmosphere already. Even the payloads would increase from tens to perhaps thousands of tonnes meaning the CO2 and excess water could be taken to the red planet. It isn’t as it there is not enough plastic to hold it, the pacific ocean is full of decades of accumulated waste plastic.
Sure there would be extra tectonic activity but the people would also be correspondingly more able to escape provided they kept up their fitness and calcium intake for bone density. Instead of the doom and gloom of the end of the Mayan cycle the world through not recognizing its significant might be throwing away the greatest opportunity in thousands of years. What other explanation could there be for building a Babel Tower that held such a short time and yet remained in the memory of humanity for so many millenia?
It is worth thinking about and should start to be very apparent within a year or two, cheers.

I am now very surprised there is still the head long rush to fire this machine up. The latest information is now in that the model for physics is wrong and the Higgs does not exist at roughly 170 GeV and that is confirmed by TeVatron a Fermilab particle accelerator.
What do you call a person who says perhaps we should take a closer look at what is happening now that there is something slightly amiss with the very basics of the science being used in a machine of such power?
CERN scientists gave an unequivocal guarantee that if anything was slightly amiss the project would stop until a proper solution could be found. Is this commitment to safety now going to be honored?

As a follow up the project is not stopping because the Higgs boson is not where it is supposed to be … so much for the shut down if there is the slightest risk to safety or that the experiment is wrong then.
The trouble is that the mathematics and consequently the logic just break down when considering a black hole of any size. I will give an example:-
The force being considered is gravity and it can not be infinite and legitimate anywhere even at the event horizon (mathematicians avoid this by not looking at the event horizon) because the reduction through the inverse square of the distance still gives infinite at all distances. Newtonian gravity at least. Relatively is speculation by a few people none of whom who have reported back from a black hole and so there is just a bunch of numbers in contention.
Here goes … the speed of an event horizon being the dragging of space could be infinite but then that plays nasty games with the forces. You see gravity might not start until things reach a certain size. So objects can not exert gravity until they are atomically very large. Although as soon as an object has mass even a neutrino it is subject to gravity.
So gravity is instantly applied as soon as a mass forms even if it is just a particle. Before any particle gets near the event horizon it is being subjected to both centripetal force and non infinite gravity. So logically as matter approaches a black hole presumably to get torn apart and disappear it gets pulverized into particles which then get spun to near infinite mass at the pitifully small scale of 3 * 10^8 ms-1 better known as the Einstein constant or even better known as the speed of light.
So now it becomes apparent that black holes are actually creators of matter because the only matter that gets anywhere near the black hole is spun around and torn into particles which then accelerates to near infinite mass and gets ejected from the black hole. Matter can’t get in but energy can because it is dragged in by the black hole deforming space and pulling energy into itself.
So if the black holes can’t consume matter and spin energy into matter it must be the black holes that make matter. This is because if space is dragged in so is the energy in that space which will like any good particle accelerator spin the energy into particles therefore the only stuff a black hole can actually take in is energy through the event horizon but now it is the poles which now must take in radiation making it the Hawking infill.
The problem with this is if you reduce the energy of a system it freezes and although getting ever slightly larger becomes a giant frozen ice ball waiting to shatter into so many fragments with the first available decent impact.
So the logic is which is greater finite gravity dragging in energized space or matter approaching infinite mass through centripetal forces?
The math and the logic just break down at such extremes and there is no safe way to know what will happen other than speculation from a very safe distance.

Perhaps I write too much or maybe people just do not understand. The stuff being accelerated is real stuff. When real stuff goes at that speed it gets time distorted. The large hadron collider WILL bend time. The very clever scientists deliberately keep time out of their math because it makes a mess.
Let me be as plain as possible.
When sufficient energy bends enough time it WILL change reality.
The simple explanation … you are all going to die.

Well the initial 3km trial tests show the LHC is already capable of spitting particles over 200 meters. One can hope the trillionths of a meter for the micro black holes still holds good.
Anyone would recognize at this late stage it is of no value trying to talk the falsification principle and skepticism to scientists or their supporters. So in a real world sense for those of not academically gifted enough to delve into the strange world of quantum physics … in real world terms if it does go “BANG” and there are survivors. Who is going to pay for the damage caused.
One of the many areas I have worked in was the train industry. It has a long and colorful history of incidents that owe a lot to failing to fully appreciate the laws of physics. Incident after incident it was a process of implementing very high safety standards after each accident. One could assume that applies in all heavy physics applications in for instance the mining, shipping and construction industries.
The point is trains work to a fail safe. In case of danger or accident all the systems are designed to shutdown or minimize risk. In what way can the physics of a spray of protons with the kinetic potential of a 200 tonne 200 km/hr train be safely brought to a halt?
So what precautions if any have been undertaken to place the genie back in the bottle once uncorked (or for that matter the two world swallowing dragons scientists claim they wouldn’t be that surprised to see either)?
If the unthinkable does happen and a stable micro black hole (or holes) do form then what is the scientific contingency plan to retrieve them? And finally who is going to indemnify all those who might stand to lose if the device fails to deliver the Higgs particle or fails to adequately destroy the world leaving a trail of damage for the rest of humanity to clean up.
Who is required to pay? Will it be the scientists? Will it be the scientific faculties of learning? Will it be the governments and bureaucrats or countries that funded and authorized the experiment? Or is it just another off shore privately funded insurance body because who in this world apart from the scientists would be prepared to take on the risk? I would suspect when the bathtub does blow up that the rest of the world gets left holding the baby.
