quantum Mechanics can always give probabilities. But some probabilities are effectively zero. It is important to know how to approximate.

Fascinating how easy it is to waste everyone's time and money - the whole array of possible dangers can be swept away.
It'll just take several weeks, at least, of expert witnesses and consequent lectures and one judge will walk away with a little more knowledge of physics.

Oh, and the people provoking the judgement will feel important. Whopee doo.

proff clcktxbckwrds: Physicists worth their salt will rarely say "this will never happen" because the probability is rarely zero - it's zero only if it's not allowed i.e. physically impossible.
It's possible you will be transported instantaneously one foot sideways. Unlikely, but not impossible.
It's possible black holes may be created. It's possible they may eat up the earth.

But since this has been happening since the dawn of time, in the earth's
atmosphere, it's extremely unlikely to be a problem. I just won't say "never" because I trust you to understand the probabilities involved.

Similarly, it's a mistake to think "it's unknowable": I know apples fall off trees. I don't know why, but I DO know how. I know cosmic rays with much greater energies are continously piling into the earth. Don't know why, but I do see them there.
The mistake is confusing "knowing why" which isn't known, with "knowing how" which is known.

(p.s. I'm no high energy physics person i.e. no axe grinding here).

dear sir,
i find it ridiculous that the physicists at cern regard people like ourselves who advocate the tightening of safety protocols as saboteurs or crackpots when what we are discussing is the potential inception of MINI BLACK HOLES, i find some comfort in the fact that there are several flaws in the strategic design of the LHD which will prevent the singularities from forming. It beggars beleif to think that somebody would actually want to open a black hole it is typycal human hubris to convince ourselves we can control things we cannot understand. I WOULD LIKE THE CHANCE TO DISCUSS IN MORE DETAIL.

... relevant enough ... <a href="http://www.hjventures.com/patent/Affidavit.html" rel="nofollow">definition</a>...

"<em>Affidavit is a written statement of facts which is confirmed by the oath of the party making it. The oath is taken before a notary or an officer who has been [authorized] to administer oaths. </em>"

I know it's irrelevant, but am I the only one who thinks "affidavit" is a hilarious word?
