According the The Telegraph, Calcutta India, CERN will begin operations on October 21, 2008.
INCHING TOWARDS PERFECT HARMONY

October 21 is the D-Day, when heads of states will assemble here to witness man’s greatest creation so far in science and technology. That is the day the LHC goes into operation and is dedicated to all the participating nations — in short, the world.“
